Choose a flag.

Compare registries on published acceptance criteria and Paris MoU standing — three at a time. Contact details and the official website are on every listing, so you can go straight to a registry if you would rather.

Create your account.

As a company or as a private individual. Starting from a flag's page carries that flag through to your first application. No documents are asked for at this stage.

Add your vessel.

Name and particulars, and only the name and type are required. Documents come later, when a registry asks for them.

Start the application.

Choose the vessel, the registry and the transaction. Where a registry has published limits you see an advisory note the moment both are chosen — advisory only, because the registry makes the decision and you can still submit. A proposed name is held while your application is open.

Work the checklist.

The registry's own requirements, one obligation at a time. Each document is read as it lands and marked with what was checked. Documents a registry already approved for the same vessel are offered back to you. Questions and replies stay on the file.

The registry decides.

A registrar accepts, asks for more, or declines — and the reason is on the file. Nothing here is decided by a machine.

[07]

Certificate, and after.

The certificate appears on the file at a stable link the moment the registry issues it. Where fees are charged they appear there too, and are settled with the registry. Expiries and registration terms stay on your overview; renewals are filed from the same record.
