Draft
Terms of use
These terms describe how EnSign is offered and what each party is responsible for. EnSign launches in September 2026 and this draft has not yet been reviewed by Aurelith's legal adviser; it should be read alongside the privacy notice. A registry engaging EnSign contracts on a separate written agreement, which prevails over this page.
The service
EnSign is software for preparing, submitting and administering ship registration work. It is operated by Aurelith. It is separate software: it does not replace a registry's legal authority and does not itself register a vessel, issue a certificate or maintain a national register on any registry's behalf except as that registry directs.
Accounts
You are responsible for the accuracy of what you submit and for keeping your sign-in credentials secure. Accounts are for named people, not shared. An organisation's administrators control who may act on its behalf and may remove that access at any time.
The registry decides
Every registration decision belongs to the registry. EnSign prepares, reads and proposes; nothing is approved, rejected, filed or sent automatically. Automated readings of documents are advisory, are shown with the reasons behind them, and may be overruled. Nothing on EnSign is legal advice, and eligibility indications are advisory only — the registry makes the decision.
Your data, and taking it with you
A registry's register and an owner's records remain their own. Each organisation's data is isolated from every other organisation's. A registry may obtain a full export of its register at any time, in a standard format; the written agreement records that commitment. Documents you upload are used to carry out the registration work you asked for, and are not used to train any model.
Acceptable use
Do not submit material you have no right to submit, attempt to reach another organisation's data, or use EnSign to misrepresent a vessel, an owner or a registration. Accounts used this way are suspended.
Availability and liability
EnSign is offered without a service-level commitment beyond what a written agreement states. Registry fees, statutory charges and the consequences of a registration decision are matters between you and the registry.
